Subbappa began teaching in 1987. In 1991 he began his Iyengar yoga training and regularly studies in Pune, India under the guidance of Gitaji and Prashantji. Subbappa received his Intermediate Junior Level III certification by Guruji. Subbappa specializes in integrating yoga postures, pranayama (breathing), meditation, yoga sutras and philosophy in asanas as guided by B.K.S. Iyengarji. Subbappa has years of experience in the therapeutic application of yoga and regularly works with neuromuscular concerns such as ALS as well as other chronic ailments in both hospital and private settings.
Subbappa works with chiropractors, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, hospice nurses, doctors and numerous other professionals in the health field. Regarding his general classes, he works with all ages that span from children, as early as 4 years old, through adult/seniors, as mature as 70 years old plus.
Michele started her yoga immersion experience at Yoga Niketan in 1997 where she spent six weeks studying yoga in Rishikesh and Gangortri, India. She then took her Yoga Teacher Training Course in 1998 in Bangalore, India at Prashanti Kutiram. After the residential training course, she went on to do intensive training in Rishikesh, India under the direction of Rudra Dev and Diwakar Sharma where she spent three months learning the Iyengar Yoga method. In the years following, Michele studied at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York and took trainings with Gabriella Giubilaro and Kofi Busia, among others. In 2002, Michele studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India and has since continued her training under the direction of Subbappa.
Michele has also been practicing Vipassana Meditation since 1995 and sees meditation as central to her spiritual practice. She is a licensed psychologist and works to promote mental well-being and flourishing throughout her teachings.
